Self love. The idea may bring an icky feeling of being conceited. Or perhaps dismissal of such a hippy dippy idea.
Stay with me, and turn that judgement off. Right now. Because it is neither conceited or crazy.
If you want to be healthy. If you want to be happy. If you want to reach your career or financial goals. If you want to be respected. If you want to be your best self...the best partner, friend, sister, mom, aunt, coworker, boss, employee, artist, the best YOU...
...then self love has to be your #1 priority.
There is no other way.
So what is it then? What is this amazing super power?
Self love is that little voice inside your head that says:
"You are beautiful."
"It's okay, you will do better next time."
"Go talk to those people, they aren't any better or worse than you. You are equal."
"You are worth knowing."
"You had your celebration, you feel a buzz. You don't need anymore champagne."
"Eat nourishing, healthy food because you are worth it."
"Post that blog, someone will relate to it."
"Go on a walk, you will feel much better."
"You deserve that job, go ask for it. If you don't get it maybe it wasn't right."
"You don't have to be liked by everyone, but you have to like yourself.”
"Say no this time, you don't have any more energy to give right now."
"Say yes because you have so much to offer."
"That's a cute outfit on you, but remember your awesome despite it."
"You are worth helping, ask for it. It doesn't make you less."
"You deserve to be healthy."
"Invest in yourself."
"It's okay to be happy, don't feel guilty."
"Taking care of yourself will help you be a better mother, partner, friend, sister, employee, etc."
"Take some time to yourself."
"Go out and be social!"
"No one is perfect. You don't have to be either."
Self love is the belief that you are equal to everyone else. Conceit is the belief you are better than others.
Self love is having compassion for yourself, as well as others. Conceit is only caring about yourself and not about others.
Self love is taking care of yourself so you can help others. Conceit is only helping yourself in a way that ends up hurting others.
Don't let self love make you cringe. It only means you deserve to treat yourself the same way you treat those you love. Why wouldn't you? You are just as worthy.
Self love is an essential ingredient to your journey towards healing, health and happiness. Get used to it my friends!
